KABUL: A recent bomb blast in Afghanistan northern Balkh province resulted on killing of Taliban governor of Balkh province. Some unknown persons attacked on governor’s office and as a result of it the governor of Balkh province killed among to others, police said.
Talking about the incident Mohammad Asif Wasir, spokesperson for Balkh police said that “Today around 9am a blast took place inside the second floor of the governor’s office, due to the blast (governor) Mawlawi Mohammad Dawood Muzamil has been killed with two civilians,”.
He further said that Afghan police is currently investigating and would provide more details once they became clear and find some evidence.
Afghan Taliban officials said that the cause of the blast was not immediately known. However, it become clear that the recent incident marks one of the most senior officials confirmed dead since the Afghan Taliban took over the power in the country in 2021.
On the other hand, Daesh which is one of the most prominent rivals in Afghanistan has claimed a series of deadly attacks in Afghanistan in recent months, some on civilian targets and others on Afghan Taliban security forces.
