WASHINGTON: A Chinese suspected spy balloon has now reached and flying over the United States for a couple of days, US officials said on Thursday. The US official said that the suspected spy balloon can damage ties between the US and Chinese government.
The US official further said that this act brazen act of just days ahead of a planned trip to Beijing by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken can also be affected. The United States military official advised not to shoot the spy balloon out of the sky just for the sack of fear debris could pose a serious safety threat, and the US president Biden accepted the request of their military officials.
One of the US official said that the US took “custody” of the Chinese spy balloon when it entered the United States airspace and had been observed it with the help of piloted US military aircraft.
While talking about this matter, the US defense department issued a statement on their social media network Twitter that “the US government is tracking high altitude spy balloon”.
The US government further said that “The balloon is currently travelling at an altitude well above commercial air traffic and does not present a military or physical threat to people on the ground.”
The US government also said that the US secretary of state Mr. Blinken is expected to travel to China next week for a visit agreed to in November by Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. It further said that tt was not clear how the discovery of the spy balloon might affect those plans.
On entering of the Chinese spy balloon to the airspace of United States, the Chinese foreign did not responded, however, the US official brought up this serious issue with their Chinese counterparts with the help of diplomatic channels in Washington and Beijing. One of the US official said that “We have communicated to them the seriousness with which we take this issue,” a US official said.
One of the US Senator named Marco Rubio, who is one of the top Republican on the Senate intelligence committee, also commented about the Chinese spy balloon and said that the spy balloon was alarming but not surprising.
