ISLAMABAD: The Election commission of Pakistan (ECP) has de-seated 25 PTI MPAs who were dissident from PTI and voted the PML (N) candidate for chief minister of Punjab Mr. Hamza Shahbaz.
Today, on Friday, the ECP announced the verdict that was consisting of 23-pages order. In this order, the ECP said that the concerned MPAs voted Mr. Hamza shahbaz and this act of going against the party policy and line were liable to be de-seated according to the law of Pakistan.
After the voting process were completed, the Speaker of Pubjab Assembly, Mr. Ch Pervaiz Elahi had sent a reference to the election commission of Pakistan against those PTI provincial lawmakers who went against the PTI policy in the chief ministed election and voted the rival candidate of PTI supported candidate Mr. Ch Pervaiz Elahi on April 16th.
It is to be noted that the provincial assembly of Pubjab consist of 371 provincial members and in the recent election of chief minister, the PML (N) candidate Mr. Hamza Shahbaz had got 197 votes as opposed to the necessary number of 186 of the total number of 371.
Now after the verdict of ECP, the position of Mr. Hamza Shahbaz who has been recently elected as CM of Punjab is also unlcear because he has lost the majority in the Punjab Assembly.
