According to the local fire department, a multi-story structure fell in Kano, a city in northwest Nigeria, trapping “many” persons within.
The Kano State Fire Service’s press office said that the rescue effort is still going on.
According to Nura Abdullahi, the regional coordinator for the nation’s National Emergency Management Agency, eight individuals have so far been saved (NEMA).
According to him, the structure is near a market and has a number of stores on the ground level.
According to Abdullahi, who spoke to CNN, “the building was under construction, but the bottom level was occupied,” and that it’s thought that shoppers were inside when it fell.
He stated, “We are not able to establish a ballpark figure of how many individuals are stuck within.
