Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan
Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI) is an Islamist political and religion party in Pakistan. It was founded by the leading leader Abul Ala Maududi, prerior to the establishment of Pakistan in 1941. The main leaders claims that the main objective of this political party is to transform Pakistan into an Islamic state, mainly governed by Sharia law, with the help of gradual and political process.
Since from its establishment, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) has strongly opposed communism, capitalism, liberalism and secularism. Furthermore, JI also opposes those economic practices of banks that offer interest based transactions and accounts processing in Pakistanl. It is to be remembered that Jamat-e-Islami (JI) has not got big achievements of gaining power in Pakistan.
History of Jamat-e-Islami (JI)
Unlike other political parties, the political leaders of the JI are called Ameer on local, district, provincial and federal lever. Since from its establishment, as we already discussed, JI does not gained popularity in Pakistan, however, still it is considered as the most influencial and major Islamic movement and political party in Pakistan.
When the independence movement of India was at progress, Maududi and the Jamat-e-Islami (JI) strongly opposed the partition of India. However, when the sub-continent was divided into Pakistan and India, this political party also split into two organizations, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and Jamat-e-Islami Hind. Another point which is necessary to keep in mind is that this political party also has sub-branches in other countries and areas as well. For example, Jamat-e-Islami Kashmir was founded in 1953, Jamat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir was founded in 1974, Jamat-e-Islami Bangladesh was founded in 1975. Similarly, it has also its own wing in Afghanistan.
During the Pak-India war in 1971, JI strongly opposed the Bangladesh Liberation War and the party was not in favor of Bangladesh independence. But unfortunately, when Bangladesh came into beging, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) also established its wing in Bangladesh and Abbas Ali Khan was nominated as the first Ameer of the party.
Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Prominent Leaders
There are several leaders of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI), but some are most popular and famous among peoples. For example its founding leader Maududi, Mian Tufail, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Siraj-ul-haq, Naeem Siddique, Naeem-ul-haq and few more. Its founding leader Mududi opposed British rule but at the same time they also opposed Muslim nationalist movement.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad A Popular Leader of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan
Qazi Hussain Ahmad belongs to Nowshehra district of Kyber Pakhtoonkhwa. He was one of the most popular leader of his party, Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan, at that time. Under his leadership he united and strengthened the Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and as a result when in 2002, the Jamat-e-Islami and Jamiat-ul-ulema Islam alliance was formed, they secured a large number of seats in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad also successfully conducted and lead a big long march against Bhutto government in 1996. It was very interesting story that he resigned from the senate seat and immediately announced long march against Benazir Bhutto’s government. As a result, on 4 November, the Benazir Bhutto government was dismissed by the then president of Pakistan Farooq Ahmad Khan Laghar on the basis of corruption.

Sayyed Munawar Hussain
Sayyed Munawar Hussain was another famous leader of JI from 2008 – 2014. In the year of 2008, Qazi Hussain Ahmad rejected to stand for the re-election on the basis of his health issues, and after that Sayyed Munawar Hussain was elected as the Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI).
Siraj-ul-Haq
Siraj-ul-Haq waz elected as Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan in the year of 2014. Before this position, he was serving as the senior minister of the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. At the same time he was also the deputy chief of the party.
