MOMBAY: Kiara Advani comes out in favour of Karan Johar, revealing that he cast her in his film when she was a “nobody.”
In an interview with Film Companion, the Shershaah actor remembers being rejected by designers because she was not a well-known performer.
“So, there’s this notion like, ‘Let’s be exclusive as a business, let’s not give everyone,’ because even as actors, you don’t want to wear what everyone else is wearing,” she told the publication. All that crap is now going on on a global scale.”
“Manish is one of those folks who never saw things that way. He never approached it with the mindset of ‘I’ll give someone something because they’re successful.’ Karan, too. “I know he gets a lot of flak for nepotism and everything, but he accepted me when I was a nobody, and nobody told him to,” Kiara continued.
“It took a random party after which he phoned me the next day and said that he wants to take me in his film,” the 29-year-old actor stated.
“These are individuals who are really successful, but they didn’t come to me because they were afraid of my success,” she said. “That’s why I hold them in such high respect.”
On the job front, the actor will appear in many new films, including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Jug Jugg Jeeyo, and Govinda Naam Mera.
