Lily James hinted to who she’d be wearing on the Met Gala 2022 red carpet when she wished Donatella Versace a happy birthday on Instagram Stories, paying tribute to the fashion titan.
And, indeed, James wore Versace to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for this year’s theme, “Gilded Glamour.” It’s not the first time the Pam & Tommy star has donned the label: during this year’s Oscars, she looked stunning in a sheer chiffon pink train embellished with embroidered flowers. Not to mention the complex Atelier Versace cutout silver minidress she wore to the Pam & Tommy Los Angeles premiere, which she paired with a bubblegum pink jacket.
James, on the other hand, wore a beaded, see-through Versace gown with an asymmetrical neckline, high slit, and platform silver shoes to the Met Gala. “I’m very blessed to be able to wear [the dress],” she said on the red carpet. “It’s very amazing to be here, especially with Donatella, whom I adore.”
The temperature was in the low 50s, so James said she was eager to go inside and warm up.
She completed the appearance with slicked-back hair that complemented her new, deeper tone. Celebrity hairstylist Kenra Professional was utilised to produce the look. “Lily wanted a sleek, modern Helmut Newton x mermaid style,” Dixon explained. “Her hair was supposed to look as though she had just gotten out of the ocean.” Consider Elizabeth Taylor exiting the pool decked out in her jewellery.”
The Pam & Tommy star has spent the previous few days in New York. On April 28, she attended the 2022 Prince’s Trust Gala at Cipriani 25 Broadway, and she just tweeted a video of herself receiving a facial with the Clé De Peau Beauté lightening mask. Betina Goldstein, a celebrity nail artist, designed James’ look with CND.
