Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, also known as PTI, was founded in the year of 1996 by the former Pakistan Cricket Team Captain Imran Khan. Initially PTI was not so popular, even though, the founder Imran Khan was also not able to secure their seat in the previous elections. However, in the 2013 election Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secured a good political position in that election.
After 2013 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) made coalition government with Aftab Sherpawo Qomi Watan Party of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. In the next coming election PTI once again secured more strong position in election and made coalition government in federal government and Khyber Pakhtoonkwa.
After that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was among the top leading political parties of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Pakistan People Party (PPP). PTI claims that it has more than 10 million members in Pakistan and abroad. That is why, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is was considered one of the largest political party in Pakistan.
History of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
It is to be well known that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supported the military government of Pervez Musharaf in the years from 1997-2007. Once the MPL-Q began to decline in 2007, aftermath of presidency of Musharaf, most of its vote bank was lost to PTI.
When PPP Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani disqualified in 2012, the popularity of PPP’s began to decrease. In the mean time PTI persuaded the youth of PPP, PML-N and other political parties towards itself. As a result, in the 2013 general election, the PTI emerged as one of the most popular political party and got more than 7.5 million votes.
In the same general election, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also secured a powerful political position in Khyber Pakhoonkwa. With many of its slogan of PTI, it attracted a large number of peoples in their rallies over public distress on several national issues. As a result of the next general election of 2018, PTI received 16.9 million votes- and according to reports this vote bank is one of the largest amount for any political party in Pakistan thus far.
However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was not in the position to make federal government by itself. It, therefore, formed a coalition government with other small parties. As a result Imran Khan became the prime minister of Pakistan for the four years. However, in April 2022, a no-confidence motion was approved against Imran Khan which removed him from Prime Ministry seat and his entire government was ended.

Current Situation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
After 9 May 2022, the current situation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) became worse. The PTI chairman Imran Khan has sent to jail for three years and more than 90 cases has been filled against him in fraud and corruption. Imran Khan is now in Adiala Jail and he is continuously facing trials on regular basis. He and his party leaders, workers and supporters attacked the Army premises, GHQ head quarter, Mardan Army Cantt, Noor Khan Air Base and other areas and added fire to several buildings.
As a result, operation against PTI, started and most of their leaders are now hidden, some went to abroad, and many changed their loyalty with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Now a large number of peoples, including youth disappointed from PTI and they want to change their ruling party for the next coming time.
PTI in Election 2024
In general election which were held on 8th February 2024, against the expectation the Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf once again got sufficient number of seats in the general election of 2024. In Khyber Pakhtoonkha, they secured most of the seats and now they also formed the provincial government. The PTI leadership decided and nominated Ali Amin Gandapur as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
In addition his cabinet also took oath and ministries are handed over to the respective candidates. However, questions were raised over this issue that all the ministries are divided among the top leadership of PTI.
In the federal they joined the Sunni Etehad Council because they were not allowed to take part in the general election on their electoral sign Bat. The election commission decided that PTI has failed to conduct intera-party election since from the long time.
