Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanullah said on Friday that Pakistan would humbly request Saudi Arabia to take action against those who raised slogans and misbehaved with ministers at Masjid-e-Nabvi.
The minister made the remarks during a press conference today, flanked by Qamar Zaman Kaira, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan.
According to Rana Sanullah, the interior ministry has sought legal advice from the law ministry about taking legal action against the perpetrators.
The federal minister expressed his outrage over the “shameful act” of violating the sanctity of a holy place, saying, “What happened in Medina last night was saddening and badly damaged our image.”
He claimed that staging a protest with 50-100 people is not difficult, and that the “Madina incident was preplanned.”
In reference to the incident at Masjid-e-Nabvi, he stated that Nawazada Shahzain Bugti was physically assaulted and Marriyum Aurangzeb was harassed.
“My ministry will make a humble request to the Saudi government to take appropriate action in this regard to control such behaviour.” We will also inform them that the entire nation went through a stressful period after learning what happened at the holy mosque.”
He also stated that the government will request that the kingdom identify the perpetrators using CCTV footage and share details with the government so that action can be taken against them.
“They should be sent back, they should not be allowed to stay there [Madinah], they don’t deserve to be in holy places because it could cause religious strife here,” Rana Sanaullah said.
He also stated that the law ministry has been asked to assist in determining whether cases can be filed in Pakistan.
“I want to tell him that there’s a limit to everything,” Rana Sana said in a message to former federal minister Sheikh Rasheed, who had hinted that something might happen at the holy places.
“You have put our temperament to the test over the last four years, and you must have recognised our strength.” I’d like to encourage you to fight in a democratic manner. But don’t go overboard.”
The PML-N leader slammed PTI Chairman Imran Khan for inciting public animosity toward his opponents.
According to the interior minister, Imran Khan should refrain from instilling anarchy and hatred in the country solely to achieve his political goals. According to him, the former prime minister is also targeting institutions for this purpose.
He stated that Imran Khan will have to answer to the people for his poor governance over the last four years.
In his remarks, Qamar Zaman Kaira also strongly condemned the despicable act committed by a small group of people at the world’s second holiest site for Muslims.
He stated that Imran Khan must refrain from spreading hatred and causing divisions in society in order to further his own interests. He claimed that Imran Khan’s politics are fascist in nature, with the belief that only he and his party have the right to live in this country.
Nobody will be allowed to target the institutions, according to Qamar Zaman Kaira.
