KARACHI: The Russian government has made an offer to Pakistan for providing the blended crude oil, this offer of crude oil is made to Pakistan because the country is not in a position to process crude oil of one specification.
This offer from Russian government is made to Pakistan during a virtual meeting that is held between the authorities on Thursday. Remember that his new offer is a part of the 100,000 barrels per day crude oil supply.
During the virtual meeting, the Pakistani side has been led by the State minister for petroleum Dr. Musadiq Malik and his team of senior officials from the petroleum division, including other oil sector representatives. On the other hand, the Russian side included of energy ministry and other relevant departments’ senior officials.
According to sources, during the virtual meeting between the two sides, the Pakistani officials told their Russian counterparts that the country needed crude oil, petroleum products, gas, and investment in infrastructure. The Russian senior officials told the Pakistani officials that they were ready to work with them on an immediate basis.
The Russian authorities also said that the supply of crude oil to Pakistan can be further deliberate upon when a Russian delegation would visit Pakistan in the third week of January 2023. The Russian officials also told that Russia can also supply about 100,000 barrels of crude oil to Pakistan on daily basis.
During the meeting, the Pakistani authorities told to the Russian senior officials that the country’s refineries were hydro-skimming and processing light crude oil. They further said that Pakistan is more interested in light crude oil to process it efficiently.
In reply to pointing out this matter, the Russian authorities in the same meeting said that if the Pakistani refineries are not capable of processing one crude oil, they can provide them with blended crude oil.
