Salman Khan started his career with a small supporting role in 1988 in a program named ‘Biwi Ho to Aisi’. After that his tremendous career started when he made first entry and played a leading role in Sooraj Barjatya’s romance Indian Movi ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ in the next year of 1989. After successfully acting and playing a key role in these movies, he then established himself in the 1990s, when he started acting in famous commercially successful indian films and dramas, such Hum Aapke Hain Koun of Barjatya’s in 1994. In the year of 1999, he worked in another film Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Salman Khan has two brothers, one is Arbaaz Khan and the other one is Sohail Khan. However, Salman Khan is the eldest son of Salim Khan who worked as screen-writer. His father was a Muslim while his mother was Sushila Charak, belongs to Hindu family.
It is believed that Salman Khan’s paternal great-grandparents belongs to Alakozai Pashtuns who came from Afghanistan and then migrated to Indore States, now Madhya Pradesh in the mid of 1800. But on the other hand, Jasim Khan wrote in his biography that his ancestors belonged to Akuzai which is the sub-tribe of Yusufzai Pashtuns. He further wrote that this sub-tribe belongs to Malakand area in the Swat valley of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Pakistan now.
