Swat valley is one of the most famous and popular tourism site for a large number of tourist. Every year, millions of peoples come here to view the sky touching hilly areas, blue water of Swat River, eat trout fish and enjoy the appealing weather of the area. Swat can be divided into two main parts depending on its weather conditions, one is lower Swat and the other one is upper Swat. The lower Swat is comparatively hot than the upper Swat. The popular cities of Swat are Mingora, Khwazakhela Tehsil, Mata Tehsil etc.

Kalam: The heart of tourism in Swat Valley
Kalam Union council is situated about 100 kilometer away from Mingora. It is situated in the upper Swat area of Kyber Pakhtoonkhwa. The weather in Kalam union council is intensively cold in winter and very friendly during summer season. In the past, some years has received several feet snow fall in Kalam Union Council. Peoples in winter season face very difficult weather conditions due to sever snow fall. However, during summer season, millions of peoples are visiting this tourist area. Hundreds of hotels have been built along river side, and in the upper villages of Osho, Gahil, and some other parts of this Union council. Sometime, these hotels become full and cannot accommodate the burden of millions of tourists, which are coming here from different parts of Pakistan but also from the rest of the world. The local peoples of this area warmly receives these guests, the provide the local gifts like Topi, Chaddar to men and Dopatta etc to women.
Otroorh: The 2nd Most Famous Tourism Spot in Swat Valley
Otroorh is another Union Council of the upper Swat region. It is situated about 10 – 15 KM away from the main Kalam Bazar. A large number of tourists are coming to this UC to see the beauty of the area. Water are flowing with a very high speed in the river alongside the road. The road is going straight to Otroorh UC and from there it is linked with another road of Dir area. So peoples can easily go to Dir or Otroorh areas through these roads. The hills are covered with the tallest trees which further add more beauty to the area. In these areas peoples have built their own small power stations for making electricity. A large number of small turbines can be found in different parts of this area.

Mingora
Mingora is one of the big and populated city of Swat valley. It is situated to north of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. According to the census of 2017, mingora has about .33 Million population. Mingora is considered as 3rd largest city, and 26th largest city of Pakistan.
Just like Islamabad and Rawalpindi is considered as twin-city, in the same way, Mingora and Saidu Sharif are also considered as twin cities of each others, because both cities are situated about 1.6 miles away from each others.
With the passage of time, and due to the expansion of Bazars of both cities, Mingora and Saidu Sharif nearly overlapped each others.
Mahodand
Mohodand is another popular and tourism site, that is situated to north-east of Swat. It is about 15 KM away from Kalam, Swat. The weather condition in Mahodand is very favorable, and friendly. Tourists come here from all the country and enjoy the amazing weather condition here. Due to the sever cold water, trout fish are also found in this area abundantly. The local peoples are using net for catching these trout fish. Due to its amazing and tasty feature, these fish are very popular and costly.
